Newman is from California who was born to a Jewish family. After completing his High School education, he attended the California University to study music, however, he dropped out a semester ago.
Newman started his songwriting career when he was only 17 years old. His first song was released in 1962. Unfortunately, this song flopped, and then he took her concentration on songwriting.
However, he achieved success in the UK as a songwriter. Newman had a deep relationship for music with Harpers Bizarre in the 1960s. He even offered them his own compilations.
In the 1960s, Newman worked jointly with Lenny Waronker who was his childhood friend. Later in 1966, Warner Bros hired Waronker as a manager. Newman and Jake Holmes worked together to promote Dr Pepper.
