After completing his graduation, Peterson joined the Department of Defence, the United States as a civilian. Basically, he was responsible for researching military involvement in Vietnam.
In the same year, he got married to Patricia Sue who was a teacher of an elementary school in Germany with whom he has a couple of children: Todd and Clayton.
