Loretta was born on November 4, 1937, in Passaic, New Jersey, the U.S. She is of Polish descent. Swit graduated from Pope Pius XII High School situated in Passaic. She further graduated from Katherine Gibbs School in Montclair. Later, she worked as a stenographer in Bloomfield.
