Holly Rene Holm was born in Albuquerque in New Mexico, U.S. on 17 October 1981. Her father works as a Church of Christ preacher and her mother works as a massage therapist. She belongs to the Irish ethnicity.
She used to play soccer and participate in swimming, gymnastics, and diving at an early age. Talking about education, she went to Manzano High School and took higher education from the University of New Mexico.
Career
At sixteen, Holly Holm started her career in boxing and kickboxing with aerobics classes. In aerobics lessons, her trainer was Mike Winkeljohn, who first discovered Holm’s hidden fighting power. Later, Winkeljohn trained her as a boxer.
In 2001, after a throughout training, Holm appeared in the USA Amateur Championship Tournament. In this tournament, she became the Adult Women’s Welterweight Division champion. After a great session in amateur competitions, she enrolled her name in professional boxing tournaments.
